Theft from motor vehicles |

Dear residents,
Your local Neighbourhood Policing Team is currently investigating a series of theft from motor vehicles or attempted such in the Twyford area. Whilst these offences are currently under investigation, this serves as a timely reminder to consider conventional vehicle crime safety advice. The current trend involves an opportunistic offender, trying car door handles for cars left unlocked, and then searching them for items of value, low or high.
This type of crime is rendered ineffective by following two simple steps. · Double check your car is locked each time you return home · Remove all valuables from your car when it is not in use
Seen less frequently, is the theft of cars by exploiting their keyless technology. Whilst unusual, this has also occurred in your area previously. Criminals boost the signal from keys indoors to facilitate the drive away of the target vehicle. Faraday pouches are an inexpensive storage solution for keyless technology, to block the signal from the key whilst it is not in use.
Kind regards,
The Twyford Neighbourhood Policing Team | ||
